Every effort is made to keep personal information supplied via the registration form secure. For this we rely heavily on the security of our hosting provider web-mania.
However, it is possible that due to circumstances beyond the control of the society or those who manage or host the oldblowers.org site, this information may become public if security is breached. The society, its office bearers, members or oldblowers.org web site administration cannot take any responsibility for action, loss or injury that may ensue as a result of this occurrence. Use of this website is entirely at the user's own risk.
Personal information will only be available, via the web, to society members who have themselves registered and had their registration validated by the old blowers web administration. In addition it may be made available to the University of Edinburgh Development Trust for the purposes of keeping the University of Edinburgh alumni database up to date.
Personal information collected via the registration form is stored by the oldblowers society on a computer system for the purposes of contacting society members and sharing this information with fellow members and the University of Edinburgh Development Trust.
As a "not for profit" organisation, maintaining records only "For the purposes of establishing or maintaining membership or support for a body or association not established or conducted for profit, or providing or administering activities for individuals who are either members of the body or association or have regular contact with it. (Information Commissioner s Office)" the Old Blowers society is exempt from notification under the Data Protection Act 1998.
Copies of personal data passed to the University of Edinburgh Development Trust become the data protection responsibility of the University of Edinburgh.

The @ oldblowers.org email addresses are provided as an additional benefit of society membership.
Although every effort will be made to maintain this service in the future it is dependant on available time and funds to continue running the service. The service is provided by our hosting provider and should we need or be forced to change provider then changes to this service may be necessary. It is hoped this will not be the case.
Provision of these email addresses is not set as a requirement of the society to its members - if we have to make changes to the service, unfortunately no refund on membership can be offered.
Use of the email service is at the user's own risk and the society or it's members take no responsibility for any actions, loss or injury resulting from using this service. Use of this service implies agreement with these terms.
The Old Blowers Society, it's members or the oldblowers.org website administration has no readily available means to intercept or otherwise tamper with communications made using this service. All aspects of the email service, other than defining forwarding arrangements, are handled by our hosting provider Web Mania
